Anna Nelson started her ballet training at the age of 13 in a small studio on Whidbey Island. She began professional training at Cornish Preperatory Dance in Seattle, WA under the tutelage of Leigh-Ann Cohen Hafford and Steve Casteel, then at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington D.C. under the tutelage of Elena Tenchikova, Marianna Lobanova, and Nikoloz Makhateli. She has taught at several Ballet studios and conservatories throughout the United States and has guest performed the role of Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker at many theaters throughout the country. After a hiatus from performing due to rehabilitation from hip surgery and completing her B.S. in molecular biology from the University of Washington, she began dancing with Olympic Ballet Theatre where she performed in the Nutcracker, Don Quixote and contemporary ballets choreographed by local choreographers. Anna is proud to be a founding company dancer with DTS. In addition to rehearsing and performing with the company, she also is a passionate ballet teacher with Emerald Ballet Academy and a pointe shoe fitter at Dancewear Center.
